Cockeysville Dentist Completing Composite Filling

How Can a Composite Filling Help Me?

Composite fillings are used to restore:

  • Cracked, chipped, fractured, or broken teeth
  • Closing space between two teeth
  • Decayed teeth
  • Worn teeth

What is a Composite Filling?

A composite or resin (tooth colored) filling is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks or fractures. In addition to their esthetic quality, composite fillings also chemically bond (adhere) to tooth structure making the repaired tooth more durable than one filled with amalgam (silver).

What is the Process for Composite Fillings in Cockeysville?

Dr. Stuzynski will first numb your gum, then remove any decay from the affected area. Once the area has been cleaned, it is ready for the composite filling to be placed. Dr. Stuzynski will then shape and polish the composite filling to your original tooth’s shape, color, and function.

It is normal to experience sensitivity when composite fillings are first placed. However, this will subside shortly after your tooth acclimates to the new filling.
